Orthodontic Patient Information
It’s our goal to make your orthodontist visits as stress-free as possible. Our office in The Woodlands, TX uses advanced technology to provide you with all of the latest orthodontic treatment options. Here’s what you should know about booking your first appointment with us.
Your Initial Exam
Your first appointment with us will be a consultation. During this office visit, board-certified orthodontist Dr. Pratt and her team will:
- Look at your dental records and medical history.
- Perform and orthodontic exam.
- Review treatment plan options including types of braces, appliances and Invisalign options.
- Collaborate with you on a customized treatment plan.
- Discuss your payment options.
- Offer a tour of our office to meet our team.
- Take records to prepare you for your big day!
Before you arrive, be sure to have your previous dentist or orthodontist send over your records. You can usually do this by calling them a few days before your appointment.
Starting Your Orthodontic Treatment
Once you’ve had your consultation and understand what orthodontic treatment is right for you, we’ll help you schedule your next appointment. At that time, Dr. Pratt will place your new appliance and get your treatment started.
The day we bond braces or deliver Invisalign, your appointment will be slightly longer than most. We will include time to pumice your teeth, place all of your appliances, and then review what you should know about taking care of your braces or Invisalign at home. We will also review foods to avoid and leave time to answer any questions you may have.
Regular adjustments are typically quick and can be scheduled before school or in the afternoon. We will adjust wires, change color ties, deliver more Invisalign aligners and answer questions.
Contact us before your appointment if you have any loose or missing brackets so we can ensure we leave enough time in our schedule to repair them.
The day we remove your braces is a longer appointment. It includes:
- Removing the braces
- Polishing your teeth
- Taking impressions for your final retainers
- Final records
