Trusted Treatment, Made Modern

If you have a crooked, gapped, or uneven smile, modern metal braces at Manning Orthodontics are a great way to give you the straight smile of your dreams.

Time-Tested Metal Braces

Traditional metal braces are one of the most common, tried-and-true methods of straightening teeth. Parents of our patients often comment that they had this type of orthodontic braces when they were younger.

Traditional braces have come a long way since then, though. While your parents might’ve worn all-silver braces with plain metal bands, many of our adolescent and teenage patients can coordinate the color of their braces with holidays, their school, their favorite colors, and more thanks to different colored elastic bands.

Here are some more benefits of traditional braces:

  • They’re suitable for patients of any age.
  • They can help tackle more complex alignment issues that other systems can’t handle.
  • They’re much more comfortable these days than in decades past due to advancements in technology.
  • They can usually close gaps and move teeth more quickly than some systems, such as Invisalign.

The Self-Ligating Advantage

Damon braces are a completely new take on traditional braces, featuring high-tech archwires that make the initial tooth-movement process quicker and more efficient.

As a bonus, they come in both metal and clear forms so you can customize your look.

Here are some more benefits you can enjoy from self-ligating braces.

Improved Comfort

Unlike traditional braces, Damon braces have no elastic bands, meaning less pressure is put on each tooth.

Smoother Movement

The slide system of Damon braces allows the initial tooth movement to align with less pressure since the self-ligating system creates less friction than traditional braces.

Efficient Hygiene

Damon braces are easier to clean, as there’s no elastic to get in the way or attract plaque.

Decreased Visibility

The clear option is ideal if you’re looking for a subtler, more discreet appearance.

Metal Braces, Modernized

Thanks to modern dental technology, we now have a better way to approach the traditional system of braces.

Damon braces are self-ligating, which means they’re tie-less and use a slide mechanism to hold the archwire in place versus the elastic bands that are associated with traditional braces.

With the Damon System, you’ll have a beautiful, straight smile in less time and with less discomfort!

How Self-Ligating Metal Braces Work

The colorful elastic ties on traditional braces may have been around for years, but these common ties actually place more pressure on each tooth, creating friction and making it harder for your teeth to move.

Think of each elastic tie as a parking brake—the elastic pushes up against the wire and slows down movement.

Self-ligating braces don’t have these colorful elastics. Instead, the archwire simply slides into a mechanism on each bracket that allows your teeth to move more freely and with less discomfort.

Since your teeth have more freedom of motion, your orthodontist, Dr. Manning, doesn’t have to adjust them as much, meaning you spend less time in the office and more time doing what you love.
